Jake Wisty, a strange and lonely teenage boy with an unusual talent takes us on a journey to Shovel, a deserted ghost town situated in the heart of the Californian Mojave Desert.
Jake spends the summer holiday with his dad, contracted to oversee the construction of a major new theme park on the site of the old ghost town, aptly named Demon Nation.
From a young age Jake cultivated and mastered a unique gift that allowed him to communicate with a bizarre circle of friends, all long dead spectres, ghosts and troublesome undesirables from another world, the only real friends that would ever stay in his company.
The spirit son of an Indian Chief helps Jake travel back to the old Wild West where he involves himself in the daily lives of a cliff dwelling Shoshone tribe. Ultimately, he witnesses the hatred brought upon this peaceful tribe by a handful of twisted individuals, who finally, through ill conceived ideals massacre every single man, women and child by fire. From that moment the ghostly Chief seeks revenge against the white population for the 328 souls lost in anger and Jake as the catalyst and protagonist in the plot uses his spectral friends to deal a stunning blow.
